Survival rate of prostate cancer is high if detected at an early stage; by regular screening the tumor can be noticed.
There are 5 stages wherein early prostate cancer can be detected: Urinary difficulties, presence of blood in urine, erectile dysfunction, swelling in the legs and pelvic discomfort.
Urinary Difficulties: The first symptom of prostate cancer is that person has difficulty in passing urine as the tumors grow near the prostate gland.
When there are traces of blood in the urine or semen the condition is more alarming
Erectile dysfunction as the name suggests is related to the sexual gland erection this may be a psychological problem and may just need a dose of Viagra, either way the best is to discuss the problem with the doctor to rule out prostate cancer.
Swelling in the legs is because the disease starts to spread everywhere in the body it will spread into the lymph nodes and due to this the legs swell.
Pelvic Discomfort: When this disease affects the lymph nodes it can cause them to press up against the nerves in the pelvis causing pain.
Paying attention to the above mentioned symptoms could help prevent prostate cancer. Nowadays cancer treatments are available and can be cured.

Days of radiation therapy, chemotherapy or surgery have all gone now for the treatment of prostate cancer. Research has done something that can be seen in fiction movies or novels this new treatment is called robotic prostatectomy or robotic prostate surgery.
This cancer treatment involves a series of robotic arms that remove the entire prostate while the surgeons remain in the room and guide these arms during surgery. Surgeons do not have to open up the body, a few incisions allow the robotic arms through, and these incisions are smaller than the ones that were made through prostate surgery previously.
This type of surgery is less painful and bleeding is less and the side effects are the same that occur with regular prostate surgery like urinary incontinence and sexual problems.
Though these side effects are temporary which can last for a few months even robotic prostate surgery cannot prevent these side effects, some have even caused liver damage due to hormone therapy. The down side of this is that it is not widely practiced and many prostate cancer sufferers have to travel out of state to get this procedure performed. Robotic prostatectomy is still the best option.

Cancer prevention is defined as an active measure to decrease the incidence of cancer. This can be done by avoiding alcohol, smoking, physical inactivity and being overweight. Epidemiologic evidence describes that avoiding excessive alcohol consumption may contribute to reductions in risk of certain cancers. However, compared with tobacco exposure, the magnitude of effect is modest or small and strength of evidence is often weaker.
Other lifestyle and environmental factors known to affect cancer risk include certain sexually transmitted diseases, the use of exogenous hormones, exposure to ionizing radiation and ultraviolet radiation, and certain occupational and chemical exposures. Every year, at least 200,000 people die world wide through cancer.
To reduce the risk of developing cancer, not only cancer the risk of other chronic diseases might also be prevented by low fat, healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. There is also evidence that total fat intake of greater than 30 percent of total calories can increases the risk of developing some cancers. Experts says, we can reduce their risk of developing cancer by 35 percent if they eat a healthy diet, not smoking, being active and eating complex carbohydrates, not drinking alcohol, limiting red meat, limiting salt. Prevention of cancer is always better than spending lots for its curing.
