Insulin - a part of cancer treatment too.

January 31st, 2008

Everybody knows that cancer treatments involve chemotherapy, radiation and surgery in some cases and that it is a very painful process. But with the breakthrough in cancer treatments, these might just be a thing of the past.

One such breakthrough is the IPT – Insulin Potentiation Therapy. This treatment involves a non diabetic use of Insulin. This cancer treatment is reported to be gentler, safer, more effective and less expensive. Also this treatment does not involve surgery or radiation and it does not have side effects.

Apart from this, the other breakthrough in cancer treatment is High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, (HIFU). In this treatment, the cancer is looked at with a high quality but low power ultrasound scanner and this is focused on a point within the tumor to heat the cancer cells to a temperature where they die. Again this treatment does not involve any surgery or long stay in the hospital. The patient just needs to stay in the hospital for a night and may have an effect similar to sunburn which would later disappear.

But whatever is the type of treatment, one must be aware about what the aim of the treatment is and what side effects are likely to be and not to worry about anything else.
